Let’s Talk About It

“Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them”. – Hebrews 7:25

The world is talking about mental health today. So let’s talk about it.

Let’s talk about how we’ve allowed one illness to take life over, at the expense of everything else. Let’s about the admitted failure of a healthcare system that has held us hostage for almost two years. Let’s talk about the toll that mandates and restrictions has taken on everyone, especially those who don’t have the privilege of sitting in a comfortable house watching Netflix during “quarantine”.

Let’s talk about the constant press conferences that leave people on edge, because politicians love to hear the sound of their own voice. Let’s talk about the people living in crippling fear, not knowing if they’ll have a job or an income, or be able to buy food for their family.

And let’s talk about the segregation in society over a medical decision.

I know that covid is a bad disease for many people. I myself recovered fairly easily, but not everyone is so fortunate. And my heart breaks for all who have suffered. It’s a wicked virus. It’s from the devil (and from a lab).

Even one death is too many, I’ve heard some say. I suppose it would be an exercise in futility to look at how many deaths there are every day for all sorts of reasons.

“But covid deaths are preventable!” Are they? Have contagious respiratory viruses ever been controlled? “They wore masks during the Spanish Flu!” Indeed they did, and still recorded the most deaths in history. “It would have been much worse if we didn’t lock down!” You know that for sure? Based on what exactly? Studies and statistics from all over the world show essentially the same death rate and case rate per capita, regardless of the measures enforced.

“We have mandatory vaccines for kids in school!” We also have several exemptions for those vaccines, including medical and religious reasons, or simply not wanting to. “We have to wear seatbelts!” Yes, while driving in a car. We obey many traffic rules. None of which are required to keep our job, or shop in a store.

“Polio was cured through vaccines!” Yes it was, because it actually worked to prevent the disease. Right now, people who are double and triple vaccinated are testing positive for covid at a very high rate, and are sick enough to need hospitalization.

“If everyone gets vaccinated this will all be over!” Will it? They promised us last year that once 70% of people were vaccinated we could go back to normal. They didn’t mention the need for more boosters, nor the fact that we would still go into lockdown despite implementing a vaccine passport.

“They didn’t know about the new variants, or that one dose wasn’t effective enough!” But yet they are so sure the vaccines are completely safe, and getting multiple boosters in a short period of time isn’t a problem.

“Individual rights are not more important that the greater good!” And what greater good is that? Trying to prevent people from getting sick and dying? No matter what you do, that is an impossible task. I know what life is like for people in other countries who have little to no rights. That’s not what Canada was founded upon. We are a country of refuge, not a place that people want to flee from.

“You could just shop online”. Not everyone has access to that, or could afford the added fees associated with it. The people who are pro-mandate are the ones who believe they are still in control of their freedom. And the only reason they have this false sense of control is because they obey what the government tells them.

What happens if they tell you to do something that you don’t want to do? What happens if a rule goes against your conscience?

I’m not an anti-vaxxer. I can’t be, because I’ve had plenty of vaccines over the course of my life. But I cannot willingly take part in a program that uses threats, coercion, and punishment. I cannot take part in a program that forces people to lose control over their bodies so they can keep their job, or be allowed to see their loved ones.

(Hey at least if they did all this with a vaccine that actually worked to prevent infection, hospitalization and death).

But it’s not about health. It never was. And if you listen closely enough, they always tell you exactly what its about. They want to reward the compliant, and punish the “recreants”. They want to publicly shame the resistant.

They want to segregate society. And you bought into it. You blame other people for covid. You blame them for lockdowns. That’s the plan. You don’t hold anyone accountable who actually has power to fix the healthcare network. You don’t assign responsibility to the ones purposely causing inflation, disrupting the supply chain and destroying the economy.

But it’s my fault. Me, who didn’t require hospitalization. I’m the burden. I’m the problem. I’m the selfish one.

What about the people who have committed suicide, because they can’t take it anymore? What about the people barely hanging on? We aren’t being promised this was the last lockdown. In fact, there’s no end in sight.

What about the elderly? Do you know how they’ve been treated? Do you know what happens in those homes? Do you know what constant isolation does to them?

What about the people who could only afford to shop at Walmart? Does anyone care about them? “Well they should just get vaccinated then”. Since when is a personal medical decision the criteria to live a normal life? You think it’s okay for tax-paying citizens with no criminal record to be shunned from society?

And what about the talk of depriving the unvaccinated of medical care? I thought you cared about people. Even convicted murderers doing life in prison get medical treatment.

Covid has changed us. Changed us into cold-hearted, careless monsters who judge and degrade anyone who doesn’t make the choice we think they should make.

100% of the population wasn’t vaccinated against smallpox and polio. Because 100% can never be, against anything. And yet, we beat those diseases. Without having to use medical discrimination, bullying and segregation to do it.

No, this isn’t the same as Nazi Germany. But do you want it to get to that point? I don’t. And that’s why I take a stand.

I stand for people who don’t have a voice. For children. For single mothers. For the homeless. For the marginalized. And in a weird way, I’m standing for you. Because some day, they’ll try to come after you too, and you’ll be thankful a precedent had already been set.

Do you want to talk about mental health? Then don’t merely talk. Put your money where your mouth is, and actually do something about it. Recognize who the enemy is, and its not your neighbor who goes to church, or the truck driver who delivers your food.

The enemy is the lying media, the complicit and corrupt government, and the one controlling evil behind the scenes.

The Bible says that Satan is the god of this world, and he has blinded the minds of unbelievers (2 Corinthians 4:4). Covid is a vile disease, straight from the pit of hell. What has happened over the past two years is not from the Lord. Division, hatred, churches being closed, pastors being arrested, that’s all from the devil’s playbook.

And of course, being forced to do something against your will in order to participate in society, that’s right out of the anti-christ hand book (Revelation 13:17; 1 John 4:3).

Even Christians will laugh that notion off, because they have been duped into thinking that the churches mission is to protect the world from a virus.

People are dying, they’re wasting away, they’re at the end of their rope, they’re in misery and they have no hope. Meanwhile the church doors are closed. “They can watch online, its the same.” Sure its the same, if you’re a church with no power, no presence of God and no move of the spirit.

Are we so spoiled and oblivious that we think everyone enjoys the same privileges of technology, and have access to everything we do?

I don’t want anyone to be sick, and I certainly don’t want anyone to die from some man-made, wicked virus. But despite all the “best efforts”, and the magical vaccine, people are still dying.

Our mission as the church is simple: “As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.” – Matthew 10:7-8

We don’t turn anyone away. We don’t make the church inaccessible. We don’t restrict the gospel to one approved segment of people.

We have a hope that is meant to be shared. And its the only thing that could save the souls of men (Matthew 16:25-26).

When I see someone hashtag “lets talk”, I hope it includes a stance against lockdowns, against mandates, and against discriminatory passports. Otherwise, they’re empty words.

But I know what cures everything that ails the heart of man. That’s the life-giving, life-changing, power of the Holy Spirit through the salvation of Christ Jesus. There is a joy unspeakable that comes from life in Christ. It can’t be explained, it can only be experienced (Psalm 16:11).

I want to talk to you, and I want to tell you about the God who drew me out of the pit of depression. The God who pulled me back from the brink. The God who turned everything around. That’s available to you, too (Luke 4:18-19).

Let’s talk.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.  Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith.” – 1 Peter 5:6-9

If you want to experience that hope and peace that comes with following Jesus, and receive salvation, pray this prayer out loud:

Jesus, I confess my need for you. I repent of all my sin and wrongdoing. I choose to follow you for the rest of my life. Forgive my sins and wash me clean. Thank you for dying for me, and for setting me free. I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Through this confession of faith, I am now saved. In Jesus name, amen.
